in detail

This totem pole was donated by the Canadian people on the 150th anniversary of Mexico’s Independence. Carved from red cedar, the figures represent indigenous mythology, such as the eagle, hawk, whale and beaver. The work in this piece, which represents wisdom and tradition, was carved by indigenous peoples of the north-western Canadian coast.
