Cerro del Judío s/n, Col. Las Cruces. 10330

in detail

At the peak of the so-called Cerro del Judío is Mazatepetl, as it was known by the ancient inhabitants of the place. Here lie a restored a pyramid and other archaeological monuments built between 1200 and 1380 with the Otomi culture patterns.

The archaeological relevance of these structures is such that it is the fourth example of architecture carved in stone in Mesoamerica and contains traces of prehistoric settlements in place.

In one of the pyramids you can observe the remains of what has been called "turtle jaguar", representing the fertility of the land. Remarkably, like other archaeological sites of the city, here was worshiped Ehecatl, the Aztec god of wind.

The place is part of Centro Ecoturístico Cerro Mazatepetl, which offers tours, workshops and history of alternative medicine.
