The National Park and Protected Area is one of the elevations that can be seen from almost anywhere in the city, for its peaks are 3,900 m high. In addition to nature tourism, there is also gotcha, climbing, motocross, quad bike rental, mountain biking or you can simply go to eat at any of the establishments. The Xitle volcano, where you can go caving, trekking and mountain biking, is within the perimeter of the park.

The Park and spans over 920 hectares of vegetation with forests of Pinus hartwegii, fir and sub-alpine zacatonal of different species. This site is home to the last specimens of volcano rabbits known as teporingo, and opossums, shrews, coyotes, weasels, skunks and wild cats, among others.
