in detail

The España Park is one of the green areas that give life to the Condesa neighborhood. Neighbors usually jogging, take their pets for a walk, sit out for ice cream, watch the sunsets or read the newspaper here. The park was the entrance to the previous Hippodrome de la Condesa since the Hacienda de la Condesa, a thriving property of the Countess of Miravalle, was located here, where she bred sheep and cultivated maize and agave. It was designed by the architect José Luis Cuevas and inaugurated on September 21, 1921. On that occasion, an ahuehuete was planted by the mayor Herminio Perez Abreu. Restaurants and cafés have flourished around the site, enriching the sense of community of the neighborhood. It is common to see kids filling the park, while they run and enjoy the entire place.
