in detail

In the seventeenth century, the property was the Colegio Seminario de Nuestra Señora Santa Ana. It later became the Casa de Aprobación y Ejercicios. In 1767, it was the San Juan de Letrán College and, in 1770, it was used as a hospital, the San Andrés General Hospital. The senators of Mexico held sessions in this building for 80 years. The house is a museum displaying paintings by Silvia Pardo and Jorge Gonzalez and sculptures by Miguel Miramontes. It is also the alternative seat of the Senate and also the venue for the awarding of the Belisario Domínguez Medal, the highest award that is given to eminent citizens every October 7th.
