You come to the Island of the Dolls by hiring a trajinera on the Embarcadero de Cuemanco. Legend has it that its former inhabitant, Julian Santana, collected dolls from trash and placed them in trees, fences and walls of his property to protect himself from a spirit that haunted him. It was the soul of a girl who drowned in a canal adjacent to his property; years after Julian himself was found drowned. An air of mystery has surrounded the place ever since.
