in detail

Located in the Polyforum Siqueiros, this is perhaps the best known of the artist's murals, for it can be seen from Insurgentes, one of the main arteries of the Mexico city. The mural is a metaphore of the will and struggle of men and women for a better society. The mural spans over 8,000 sqm covering the octagonal building. The Polyforum has a rotating floor system to facilitate contemplation of the work.

Siqueiros divided the inside into four areas: The March of Humanity towards Bourgeois Democratic Revolution; The March of Humanity towards the Revolution of the Future; Peace, Culture and Harmony; and Science and Technology. The work as a whole is called The March of Humanity on Earth and towards Cosmos.

Currently, the Polyforum building offers an interactive tour in order to visit the famous mural. During the tour you can hear Siqueiros’ voice describing his work, while the forum’s huge platform turns on its axis.

We recommend you to call first in order to verify if there will be access to the mural on the date of your visit and the opening hours of the interactive tours.
