in detail

The first bishop of the New Spain, Fray Juan de Zumarraga, chose to build his residence over the place that was the main temple deity of the Aztecs: Tezcatlipoca, god protector of warriors. Zumarraga died before he could move into the palace he had built, which over time became the seat of the Archbishopric of Mexico. This building is now home to the Museum of Art of the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit.

This property, dedicated to culture, permanently displays the Acervo Patrimonial y Pago en Especie, collections that have enriched the national heritage. It is a program of the Ministry of Finance to help plastic artists meet their tax obligations. There are items such as furniture, office equipment, fittings, ornamental objects and applied arts, paintings, sculptures, tax stamps and coins with museum value. In addition to the permanent exhibitions, temporary exhibitions are also held.
