The National Museum of Interventions was inaugurated in 1981 but the Gastón García Cantú multi-purpose hall and the consultation center El Catalejo de la historia did not open until 2006. This museum is aimed to spread the history of México to its people by means of books, pamphlets, interactive videos and CDs.
The permanent collection is composed of litographys, flags, weapons, furniture, civil and military accesories from the time, which are combined with reproductions that allow recreating historical facts museographicaly especially military invasions from XIX and XX centuries.
The museum is located in the exconvent of Churubusco, which belonged to Franciscan Order, who gave the building to Diegans Order in 1580. It served as military barrack in the century XIX and was scene of one of the most important battles against Unated States of America in 1847.
Admittance is free for students with ID, teachers and seniors.
