in detail

The National Museum of Watercolors (Museo Nacional de la Acuarela) is the first museum of this type in the world. It was founded in 1967 by Maestro Alfredo Guati Rojo, who dedicated his life to the dissemination of water-based art. Its seven galleries house permanent exhibitions where you can take a tour from pre-Hispanic times to the present to find out about the past, the historical development of watercolors and the evolution of this water-based technique.

The museum collection has been enriched since its original formation, as it has been added to over time, especially watercolor works of national and international contemporary artists.

Every weekend you can find different workshops for children, but each one surrounding watercolors, whether to practice painting or to putting together a 3D kite, kids will learn about this painting technique.

It is recommended to visit its official website to know schedules and fees of this workshops.
