Av. Congreso de la Unión #66, Col. El Parque. 15960
It is the official seat of the Chamber of Deputies and the Congress of Union. It is located in what was formerly the San Lázaro railway station, hence its name.
It was built by order of then President José López Portillo, as part of a development program in Mexico. It opened on September 1st, in 1981 but on May 5th, 1988 it caught fire, so it had to be renewed. The architect in charge of the restoration was Manuel De Santiago de Borbón Gonzalez Bravo. The building was reopened by President Carlos Salinas de Gortari on November 1st, 1992.
Here is held the official ceremony of inauguration of the president of Mexico.
