Calle Morelos y Pavon #14, Col. Centro de Azcapotzalco. 02000
The Dominicans settled in Azcapotzalco in the year 1529. Construction was started in 1565 by Fray Lorenzo de la Asunción. The coffered ceilings, unique in Mexico City, are notable. On the walls of the cloister you can see the remains of wall paintings.
Highlights of the neoclassical style temple include the Baroque façade, altarpieces and the exquisite Rosario Chapel. It has a painting from the XVI century depicting the souls in purgatory.
The courtyard of this former convent was the scene of the last battle of the Mexican Independence War, where the royalist troops were defeated.
