The parish church was built in 1568 and was replaced in the eighteenth century by the current building. It was established by the religious brotherhood of the Santa Vera Cruz founded by Hernán Cortés. It houses the Cristo de los Siete Velos and the Virgen de los Remedios. The remains of the sculptor Manuel Tolsá, also lie here. It is an active church where religious ceremonies are conducted.
