Desierto de los Leones is one of the best preserved forests of the country. At the heart of this magnificent Parque Nacional is found the quarter of what was once a convent dedicated to meditation, meeting closely with God and his creation: Nuestra Señora del Carmen de los Montes de Santa Fe Convent (commonly referred to as Exconvento del Desierto de Los Leones). A magnificent building of the seventeenth century transformed into a tourist center with a variety of cultural activities such as concerts every weekend. In its vicinity is found a good selection of popular Mexican food and visitor services. The ideal place to spend a weekend enjoying the outdoors and colors of the forest.
The excellent preservation and wilderness of this national park have turned it into one of the favorite places of mountain sports enthusiasts, with excellent routes with varying degrees of difficulty and even for practicing hiking, mountain biking, or racing.
Nearby, in Cuajimalpa, within the atmosphere of a small town with a modern twist the highlights include the Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla Museum with a collection of ancient historical manuscripts. Cultural activities, celebrations and traditions at Foro Pedro Infante are held.
