in detail

This building dates from the early 17th century, making it one of the first inns in America. The construction is a beautiful example of Mexican baroque, which used to be inhabited by friars of the Saint Augustine Order before they embarked to the Philippines to continue their evangelization voyages. In 1780, as it says on its facade, the building was restored and renamed as the Hostería de Santo Tomás de Villanueva. The place has borne witness to all of the important historical events of the city, as it is located just in front of Alameda Central.

This Boutique Hotel’s 28 rooms are decorated in a typical colonial style. The restaurant 1620 serves Mexican haute cuisine merged with Spanish and Mediterranean flavors, and at the Cielo de Cortés Bar guests can enjoy several delicious drinks while gazing at the great splendor of Mexico City.
