The Soumaya Museum and the Jumex Museum are located on Carso Plaza, in the heart of Polanco’s trendiest area; two giants of the arts standing face to face. Two concepts that contrast and complement one other. Two perspectives on art. Two collectors. Two buildings that are, in themselves, museum pieces.

Before you go inside, stop to admire the glimmering and highly complex organic shape of Museo Soumaya’s exterior, which is now one of the symbols of the city. The museum was designed by the innovative Mexican architect Fernando Romero, in collaboration with Frank Gehry. Inside, Rodin, Diego Rivera and Miguel Angel welcome you. In fact, the museum houses the largest collection of Rodin outside of France. Spread over five themed floors, part of Carlos Slim's private collection of art from all eras and around the world.

While standing in front of the risky design of Soumaya Museum, turn around to contemplate the serenity of the Jumex’s Museum stone façade. Designed by David Chipperfield, the building itself is another true gem. Stroll through the lofty and bright halls on the upper floors, which are flooded with natural light, exhibiting part of probably the largest collection of contemporary Latin American art in the world. You’ll also find temporary exhibitions curated by the museum thanks to agreements with major museums worldwide such as the MoMA.

Entry to the museums with backpacks and large packages is not permitted, so they need to be left at the cloakroom.

Entrance to Soumaya Museum is free every day.

In both museums the tours are designed to start on the top floor.

If you'd like to eat or shop afterwards, you’re right beside the exclusive Antara Plaza shopping mall.
