Boat rides in Tlahuac with your family

TOP EXPERIENCES · Family, Parks, Traditional
Take 6 hours

imagine...

Become a child again. Enjoy walking through the woods and floating round the canals aboard a trajinera, like in Xochimilco. But now you're on the other side of the lake, in Tláhuac. A great alternative if you prefer to avoid the crowds and visit a town dedicated mainly to agriculture, whose forte is the production of the nopal.

Enjoy a family day and go to the Lago de los Reyes Aztecas in Tláhuac riding in a trajinera throughout the chinampas (floating orchards) area. Ask them to take you to the Museo Vivo. The museum is located in a chinampa and there you can see old photographs and even pre-Hispanic artifacts found in the surrounding fields. You will not go hungry: you can eat delicious quesadillas, beef tacos, pambazos and campechanas from local vendors.

You can also spend a great family day out at the Olive Grove, a magical place where more than 500 years ago the first olive trees of the continent were planted. Admire the olive trees and enjoy the recreational green areas. Another option is to grab the bikes and skates and go to the Tláhuac Forest where you can do all kinds of family activities.

It is best to take the car for this excursion because the sites are far from each other.

On Sunday go to the Lago de los Reyes Aztecas before 4 pm if you want peace and quiet because after that time the place attracts many people.
