Polanco, the chic district

Polanquito's terraces are full of life all day long. There are places for business meals, romantic dinners, or coffee with friends. This elegant district, with colonial style houses and modern buildings, is the place to see and be seen.

Morning meet-ups happen at the cafés and gourmet bakeries. You can smell freshly ground coffee, croissants and chilaquiles (strips of fried corn tortillas with egg). Line up for a freshly squeezed juice at the juice stands. The city begins its daily routine. Some go to work, and some go for a run. Everyone passes through here.

Arrive around midday. What do you feel like having? There’s a world of flavours to choose from: Asian, Mexican, French or Italian cuisine. There are exclusive restaurants, bistros with menus on blackboards, or small restaurants with large terraces. Modern or traditional. The choice is yours.

In the afternoon the meeting places are the ice cream parlours, tea rooms, and book stores with delicious coffee. And as twilight sets in, lights come on and candles are lit. Join the continuous flow of people through the streets. The organ players arrive, you can hear the mariachi, and a soprano sings to a rapt audience. Have a cocktail after dinner. The night is young!

The grid of streets between Lincoln Park in Emilio Castelar and Presidente Masaryk Avenue is known as Polanquito. Along this avenue, heading towards Archimedes, there is also an array of restaurants. To see all restaurants in Polanco click here.

If you want to eat at one of the trendy restaurants, make sure you have a reservation.

Most restaurants offer a valet parking service.
