The Tamayo Museum brings avant-garde contemporary art to Mexico City. Across Paseo de la Reforma, the Modern Art Museum exhibits contemporary artistic creation in Mexico.

The core of Tamayo Museum offering consists of pieces by the most important artists on the international scene as well as pieces belonging to the collection of the brilliant artist Rufino Tamayo. This museum, with its great calendar of events, is one of the focal points of the city's cultural life. When you arrive you'll notice the museum’s extraordinary architecture, the work of González de León and Zabludovsky. Outside, a shape resembling classic pyramids. Inside, bright and open spaces.

The Modern Art Museum exhibits its own collection along with masterpieces of Mexican art from over the past 100 years, in addition to temporary exhibitions on current affairs. Don’t miss the collection of outdoor sculptures in the gardens. And, if you want to clear your mind, you can get to Chapultepec from the museum's back entrance.

Entry to the museums with backpacks and large packages is not permitted, so they have to be left at the cloakroom.

Please bear in mind that if the current exposition at Tamayo Museum is very popular, there may be long lines to get in. Don't miss the interesting shop with Mexican design products. If you are there at lunchtime, the museum has a nice restaurant with a terrace overlooking the park.
