Mexico was one of the first countries to introduce the telegraph in 1849, a technology that allowed instant communication, so it was an essential tool for governments and companies. Juan de la Granja, a person of Spanish origin, brought it to México. Porfirio Diaz brought galvanometers, gauges, a piano type transmitter that was installed in 1886 and a Morse system team that ceased operations in 1992, and can be seen in galleries.

The building was the Hospital of San Andrés, the Ministry of Telecommunications and is now the Palace of Commnunications. Its interior is decorated with panels of gilded wood framing paintings in a delicate and luxurious style. The site hosts telegraphic apparatus, reproductions of telegrams, historical, visual and interactive documents and sculptures. It is located in the same space as the Munal.
