462 hotels

to find the room of your dreams in Mexico City.

Where to stay in Mexico City. With 462 hotels listed, the choice that actually shapes your trip is not the hotel but the neighbourhood — because in a city this size, where you sleep decides how much of the day you spend travelling.

The historic centre. Best for a short first visit: the Zócalo, the cathedral, the Templo Mayor, Bellas Artes and Madero street all on foot, and everything else a Metro ride away. Noisy, lively, and the most interesting architecture.

Roma and Condesa. Leafy, walkable, laid out in the 1900s and 1920s, and the densest restaurant and bar circuit in the city. The choice for a longer stay.

Reforma and Zona Rosa. The best-connected option, on Metro line 1 and the Metrobús, with Chapultepec at one end and the centre at the other.

Polanco. Quiet, expensive, next to the great museums.

Coyoacán and San Ángel. Beautiful, colonial and genuinely far from everything else — 30 to 40 minutes to the centre.

And Santa Fe, which is the one to avoid unless your business is there: no Metro, and 40 to 60 minutes of saturated road to the centre.

Practical notes. Check the borough and postcode — colonia names repeat across the city. Tap water is not drunk; hotels provide bottled. Check-in is usually 15:00.
