in detail

The Claustro de Sor Juana University Siste Museum (Museo de Sitio de la Universidad del Claustro de Sor Juana) is located in what was the former convent of San Jeronimo, where Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz, a prominent Mexican poet, lived for 27 years. The building is in Herreriano Baroque style and was opened in 1623. It was restored between 1976 and 1982.

The university provides opportunities for artistic expression such as the Celda Contemporánea that contains archaeological remains of the seventeenth century. From 2012 the curator Berta Kolteniuk proposed a series of exhibitions in 3 format, which consists of showing the work of three artists with a matching theme or thread.

The cloister has the R-38 Forum which displays and promotes art, a group called Pequeña Cantoría to motivate children to dive into the world of music, the Ensamble de Solistas supporting young people with musical talent, the Compañía de ópera barroca, the Coro Virreinal Rita Guerrero, Auditorio Divino Narciso, the Festival de Música Antigua and the Música en Espiral project that promotes the teaching, appreciation, awareness and dissemination of music.
