Insurgentes Sur #3000, Col. Ciudad Universitaria. 04510, Ciudad Universitaria
This room is named in honor of Carlos Chávez, who was a Mexican composer, founder of the Symphony Orchestra of Mexico, currently the National Symphony, and the first director of the National Institute of Fine Arts.
It is located within Centro Cultural Universitario (University Cultural Center), and was specially designed and built to hear chamber music, but other activities are also performed. It has capacity for 163 people, which makes a somewhat intimate experience; the farthest place of the stage is just 13 meters (42 ft) away.
The musicians performing here are professionals, many of whom are members of the most important orchestras in the country.
