The route. The lane runs along Avenida Eduardo Molina from San Lázaro up to the Río de los Remedios, a total of about 10 kilometres through the east and north-east of the city. It has its own space, separated from traffic, so cars are not interrupted and cyclists are not forced into the road —a real difference from most streets in this part of town.
Safety. A reflective vest or clearly visible clothing is recommended, and worth taking seriously here: the avenue carries heavy lorry and bus traffic, and the junctions are wide. Respect the traffic signals, ride in the lane rather than on the pavement, and avoid the route after dark, when the lighting is uneven.
Getting there with a bike. San Lázaro station on metro Lines 1 and B sits at the southern end, next to the TAPO bus terminal; Consulado and Deportivo Oceanía on Line 5 are close to the middle stretch. Bikes are allowed on the metro at weekends and on public holidays, which is the simplest way to reach the start.
