Mama Rumba Masaryk

What it is. A piece of Havana in Polanco: Mama Rumba exists to keep Cuban son and salsa alive, with live music, drink promotions and dance classes. This is a place for dancing rather than talking —the floor runs the room and the band plays loud.

What to expect. The mojito is close to compulsory. If you cannot dance, the classes held before the live set cover the basics; later in the evening the floor fills and the standard rises. Come early if you want a table.

Where it is. At Presidente Masaryk 393, colonia Polanco, on the city's luxury shopping avenue, a few blocks from Parque Lincoln. Polanco station on metro Line 7 is nearby, but for the small hours a ride app is the practical way home.
