Interior, Cto. Interior Instituto Técnico Industrial, Tlaxpana, Ciudad de México 11370
How it came about. A few years ago the city authorities turned a microbus terminal into a sports park, and it has become one of the busiest in Mexico City: the San Cosme skatepark. It sits under the Circuito Interior bridge, which is exactly what makes it work —permanent shade and shelter from the rain, in a city where afternoon downpours end most outdoor sessions.
What is there. Concrete throughout, with rails, boxes and half-pipes. It is a space genuinely taken over by its users rather than a decorative installation, so expect a crowd of skaters and BMX riders of every level, and the informal etiquette that goes with it: watch the lines before you drop in.
Where it is. Inside the Circuito Interior at the Instituto Técnico Industrial, in Tlaxpana, by San Cosme. San Cosme station on metro Line 2 and Normal on Line 2 are both within walking distance, and the Alameda de Santa María with its Kiosco Morisco is a few blocks away.
