Botas Bar

What it is. A gay bar on calle Niza, in the Zona Rosa, with an unusual arrangement: the upper floor is women only and the ground floor is for men. Electronic music and current hits dominate, and the house runs promotions often.

The big dates. It stages themed events for Día de Muertos and for Día del Amor y la Amistad — the Mexican 14 February — which are the most produced nights of the year and worth noting if your trip coincides.

The area. Niza and Amberes concentrate the LGBT nightlife of the Zona Rosa: dozens of venues within a few blocks, all walkable, with a police presence and plenty of movement until the small hours. It is the easiest part of the city for a night out with no planning at all.

Practicalities. Wednesday to Saturday from 18:00 to 03:00; closed Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. Metro Insurgentes, line 1, is two minutes away; for the trip back, use an app taxi.
