Herrajes Migliano (Migliano’s Blacksmith Depot) is one of the centennial stores in Mexico’s City downtown. Juan Migliano, founder, arrived from Piamote, Italia, to Mexico in 1870. After some adversities that he went through in the Mexican Revolution, don Juan returned to its native land. After that, he returned with its family to Mexico City where he resumed its blacksmith business. The building was destroyed in 1926 so it could be reconstructed a year later.
This family business has a tale surrounding the attempted murder suffered by Leo Trotsky in Mexico under the command of the painter David Alfaro Siqueiros, a regular customer of Herrajes Migliano, where he bought a case to kept the gun that was used during the attempted murder. The case could be tracked down and it lead directly to the culprit.
The business is currently working under the third-gen administration, the brothers Antonio, Eugenio and Alberto Migliano.
