The Centro Cultural Casa del Lago Juan José Arreola is located in the heart of the 1st Section of Chapultepec, near Lago Mayor. Its construction began in 1908 by order of Porfirio Diaz. It was the headquarters of several entities, and in 1930 it was transferred to the National Autonomous University of Mexico for use as a research centre. In 1959 it came to be used purely for cultural purposes, headed by the writer Juan José Arreola.

Today, it is one of the most popular cultural attractions in the area, with workshops, exhibitions, concerts and many other activities for teenagers and children.
