Calz. Azcapotzalco La Villa s/n, Col. Santo Tomás. 02020
What it is. A charro ring in Azcapotzalco where the suertes of charrería and escaramuza are practised. The suertes are the nine regulated events of a charreada — cala de caballo, piales en el lienzo, colas, bull riding, terna en el ruedo, mare riding, manganas on foot and on horseback, and the paso de la muerte — each with its own scoring.
Why it matters. Charrería was inscribed as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2016, and neighbourhood rings like this one are where it stays alive: the local associations train here and the area's teams compete, in front of an audience from the neighbourhood rather than from a travel agency.
How to attend. There is no fixed published timetable: charreadas are scheduled by date, normally at weekends. Call the number on the listing to ask when there is one and whether entry is open.
Where it is. Calzada Azcapotzalco-La Villa, colonia Santo Tomás. Metro Azcapotzalco and Ferrería are in the area; combine it with the historic centre of Azcapotzalco and its colonial parish church.
