What this section covers. Transport bought as a service — airport transfers, private drivers, tourist buses and trams.
Airport transfers. Worth buying for a late arrival or a first night. MEX, the main airport, is inside the city, with authorised taxi desks in the terminals and Metrobús line 4 to the historic centre. Felipe Ángeles (NLU) is 45 km north and needs considerably more time — check which airport your flight uses before booking anything.
Tourist buses and trams. Turíbus and Capital Bus are open-top hop-on hop-off services, with a ticket valid for the day; the tourist tram runs narrated routes through Coyoacán and the centre, with evening legend tours. These are genuinely useful on the first day of a short trip, to place the city, and with limited mobility or small children. They are not worth it if you already know the centre, because the Metro is vastly cheaper and faster at rush hour.
Private drivers. Worth it for a day with several stops outside the city; otherwise an app taxi costs less than a day's hire with fuel and parking.
Practical notes. Never accept transport from someone who approaches you inside a terminal. Confirm prices and validity with the operator.
