What the half-day covers. The historic centre and the Reforma–Chapultepec axis, plus one museum of your choosing, in four to five hours with a certified guide, transport and insurance.
The route. It begins at the Zócalo: the Metropolitan Cathedral, the Palacio Nacional for Diego Rivera's murals of Mexican history, and a view over the Templo Mayor excavation — or inside it, if that is the museum you pick. Then along Paseo de la Reforma to the Ángel de la Independencia, and on through the Bosque de Chapultepec and Polanco with photo stops.
The museum, which is the point. You choose one and spend two to three hours in it, entry included: the National Museum of Anthropology, the National Museum of History in Chapultepec Castle, the Museo del Palacio de Bellas Artes, the Museo de Arte Moderno, the Museo de Arte Popular, MUNAL, the Templo Mayor museum or the Museo Soumaya.
Which to pick. Anthropology if it is your first visit and you only do one. The Castle if you want the view and the imperial apartments. Arte Popular if you are buying crafts later. Soumaya if you want the building as much as the collection.
Practical notes. Runs Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays, normally from 09:00 with hotel pick-up. Food, drink and the INAH photography permit are not included. The pick-up point for the museum stop depends on which one you choose. Confirm the current price when booking.
