What the day covers. A full-day excursion to the south of the city combining three things that sit close together: a trajinera ride through the canals of Xochimilco, the UNAM's Ciudad Universitaria campus, and the historic centre of Coyoacán.
Why these three work together. Xochimilco is the last surviving fragment of the lake system the Mexica built their city on, farmed from chinampas and inscribed by UNESCO in 1987. Ciudad Universitaria, also World Heritage, carries O'Gorman's mosaic library and Rivera's relief on the Olympic Stadium. Coyoacán is colonial, cobbled and walkable. All three are in the same southern corridor, which is why the combination makes sense in one day.
How it runs. Hotel pick-up with the time confirmed after booking, departure around 09:00 and return to the hotel lobby around 16:30, with a bilingual guide, transport and the boat ride included. It does not include the Frida Kahlo Museum, meals, drinks or tips, though there is a stop to eat.
Practical notes. Available Tuesday to Sunday. Comfortable shoes matter — Coyoacán and the campus are both walked. Separate adult and child rates apply; confirm the current price and what is included when booking.
