in detail

What this is. An information module at the offices of CANACO, the Mexico City chamber of commerce — free, and it sells nothing. Printed maps, public transport routes and verified opening hours.

Why a chamber of commerce has one. Because the chamber represents the shops, restaurants and hotels of the city, and the module is the point where a visitor's practical question meets that network: where to find a specific trade, which markets specialise in what, and whether a business is formally registered — useful if you are buying something expensive or shipping it home.

Where it puts you. CANACO's building stands on Paseo de la Reforma, the axis that runs from the historic centre out to Chapultepec, with the Ángel de la Independencia, the Diana Cazadora and the Zona Rosa all within walking distance.

Practical notes. Office hours, Monday to Friday. Metro Insurgentes and Sevilla, line 1, and the Reforma Metrobús. On Sunday mornings Reforma closes to traffic for the cycling paseo, which makes walking the avenue the pleasantest two hours in the city.
