What this is. An official tourist information module in Plaza Carso, Polanco — free, staffed and selling nothing. It hands out printed maps of the city and the Metro, works out how to reach a specific address by public transport, and verifies opening hours and prices.
Where it puts you. Plaza Carso is one of the densest cultural corners in the city: the Museo Soumaya, with its mirrored facade and free admission, and the Museo Jumex by David Chipperfield, also free, stand on the same square, with a shopping centre, a theatre and offices around them.
What to ask here. Which of the two museums is showing what, since both change their temporary programme several times a year; how to combine them with Chapultepec, which is a short ride away; and how to get back without a car, because Polanco parking is scarce and expensive.
Practical notes. Blvd. Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra, Ampliación Granada. Metro San Joaquín and Polanco, line 7. Daylight hours, normally around 09:00 to 18:00; both museums close on Mondays.
