Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz #114, Col. Santa María La Ribera. 06400
What this is. An official tourist information module at the Teatro Sergio Magaña — free, staffed and selling nothing. Maps, transport advice and verified opening hours across the city.
The theatre. A mid-sized city-run stage named after the playwright Sergio Magaña, one of the central figures of twentieth-century Mexican theatre. It programmes drama, dance and family work at prices far below the commercial circuit, with seasons announced a few weeks ahead.
Where it puts you. In Santa María la Ribera, one of the oldest neighbourhoods in the city and one of the least visited — which is the real reason to come here. Its square holds the Kiosco Morisco, a Moorish-revival iron pavilion built for the 1884 New Orleans World's Fair and brought back to Mexico; the Museo de Geología, with its spiral staircase, is on the same square.
Practical notes. Metro San Cosme and Buenavista, line 2, are within walking distance. Visit in daylight and ask the module for the current programme before planning an evening around it.
