How to get

Av. Canal Nacional de Miramontes s/n, Col. Las Campanas. 04929

in detail

Located in the south of Mexico City, it has a surface of over 120,000 m2 that include a kiosc, two monuments after Emiliano Zapata and José María Morelos y Pavón, and a fountain in which you can watch the iconic coyotes of the Coyoacán borough.

It also has a monumental fountain in arcade shape and an outdoor theater. It is the preferred place for the inhabitants of the south of the city, specially for the children that play here on weekends.

What you will find. More than 120,000 square metres of urban park with a bandstand, two equestrian monuments —to Emiliano Zapata and José María Morelos y Pavón— and a fountain with replicas of the coyotes that give Coyoacán its name. There are tree-lined walkways, playgrounds, sports courts and open lawns with room for a picnic, plus a track that fills with runners and skaters from early on.

How it is used. This is a neighbourhood park rather than a tourist destination: at weekends it gathers a street market, dance classes and families on bicycles, while weekday mornings are quiet for a walk. It pairs well with the Canal Nacional corridor that runs alongside, gradually reclaimed as a cycling and walking route.

Getting there. It sits on Canal Nacional and Miramontes, in colonia Las Campanas, in the south of the city. By public transport, come via metro Line 12 or the Tren Ligero and take local transport along Miramontes; driving, there is street parking around the perimeter, except on Sunday around midday.
