Lago Zurich #245, Col. Ampliación Granada. 11529, Polanco-Chapultepec
On two levels, this innovative architectural design with marble mirrors offers guests, extensive and international prestige stores , and various gourmet dining options.
The shopping center is part of the mega construction of Carlos Slim and Ricardo Legorreta Corporate, constituted by corporate towers, residential towers and the cultural circuit with the Soumaya museum, Jumex museum, Telcel Theatre and Inbursa Aquarium.
What it is and where. The shopping centre is the street-level part of Plaza Carso, the complex built in Ampliación Granada —the area known as Nuevo Polanco— on former industrial land. The address is Lago Zurich 245. It has two retail levels with international stores, restaurants and a food hall, in a marble-and-glass design that connects straight into the rest of the complex.
What makes the trip worthwhile. More than the shops, what sets Plaza Carso apart is what sits beside it, all reachable on foot from the same corridor: the Soumaya Museum, with its aluminium-hexagon facade and free admission; the Inbursa Aquarium, the city's largest, spread over several underground levels; and the Teatro Telcel, used for large-scale musicals. Corporate and residential towers complete the development. With a museum, an aquarium and food all on one block, it works as a full day out, especially with children or on a rainy day.
Getting there. The closest metro station is San Joaquín on Line 7, a ten-to-fifteen-minute walk; Polanco, on the same line, is the alternative. The area has wide avenues and heavy traffic at peak hours: there is parking in the complex, but public transport usually works out better. Check the opening hours of the museum, the aquarium and the theatre separately, as they differ from the mall's.
