This fascinating museum is a showcase of the roots, traditions and artistic skills of the Mexican people and cultures. This museum has on display the enormous cultural wealth that is a fusion of Spanish and indigenous worldview, as well as the close relationship between the artisans whose work is inspired by the lush biodiversity of Mexico.
The museum has more than 3000 donated works divided into the permanent galleries: Pottery, Alfeñique, Vegetable fibers, Cerería, Toys, Maque or lacquer, Lapidary, Wood work, Masks, Metalwork, Miniatures, Gold, Paper and Cardboard, Popular painting, Leather work, Textiles, Glass and ephemeral Metals. Temporary exhibitions give a voice to the artisans of the country. The museum offers alternative activities such as wood carving workshops, puppet shows, films, storytelling, among others. Workshops aimed at children last two hours on weekends.
The Popular Art Museum is located in an interesting art déco building. The Museum has a great store, with several branches in the city, where you can buy authentic Mexican handicrafts of the highest quality.
