Río Pánuco #128, Col. Cuauhtémoc. 06500, Reforma-Zona Rosa
What it is. A Japanese restaurant on Río Pánuco, in colonia Cuauhtémoc, a few minutes from Paseo de la Reforma. The staging is part of the plan: a kimono-clad welcome, bamboo tables and a level of decor that is unusual for the block.
What to expect from sushi in Mexico. Worth knowing before you order: the Mexican version of sushi leans towards breaded rolls with cream cheese, avocado and sweet or spicy sauces. If you want the more orthodox Japanese kitchen — nigiri, sashimi, soups, grilled dishes — ask for it explicitly and ask the waiter what exists outside the roll menu.
When to go. Monday to Saturday from 13:00 to 22:30, and Sundays only until 18:00. This is a lunch and early-dinner restaurant, not a late-night one.
Getting there. Río Pánuco #128. Metro Insurgentes and Sevilla, line 1, are a few minutes away, and the Reforma Metrobús runs close by. The Ángel de la Independencia is a few streets off.
