La Hacienda de Jamaica pays tribute to the place where it is found: a place of deals and marketing, dating back to the ancient times of the Spanish conquest. Formerly, Magdalena Mixhuca was a collection center for fruits, legumes, and vegetables, on the shores of Lake Xochicalco. At Jamaica, trajineras and reed rafts were organized to transport the products from Canal de la Viga to the large market of Tlatelolco. The restaurant was built in 1987 and their motto is "Quality in the preparation of each dish", and seeks to preserve the tradition from those years.
