What it is. A Japanese restaurant on Avenida Coyoacán, in Xoco — a quick, everyday option on one of the main southern avenues rather than a destination counter.
What to expect. The Mexican sushi register: large rolls, many of them breaded or baked with cheese, with cream cheese, avocado and sauces. It is a local genre with a following of its own. For nigiri, sashimi or anything more orthodox, ask explicitly what exists outside the roll menu — there usually is something, but it is rarely the headline.
What is a few streets away. The Cineteca Nacional, in Xoco: the national film archive and the best cinema in the country, with several screens, a weekly-changing programme of retrospectives and festivals, free open-air screenings in its plaza and very cheap tickets. Dinner here and a film there is a coherent evening.
Practical notes. Av. Coyoacán #2000, Xoco. Metro Coyoacán, line 3, is a short walk, and the centre of Coyoacán is about fifteen minutes further south by taxi. Cards accepted.
