What the borough is known for. Gustavo A. Madero holds the single most visited religious site in the Americas: the Basilica of Guadalupe and the Cerro del Tepeyac, where millions arrive every 12 December. The administrative seat on the main square is where the borough government handles local business and paperwork.
What else is here. Beyond the Villa de Guadalupe, the borough covers the Bosque de San Juan de Aragón —the second largest green space in the city, with its zoo— the Parque Nacional El Tepeyac, and the northern pueblos with their own patron saint festivals.
Getting around. Metro Line 6 serves La Villa-Basílica, Line 3 runs up to Indios Verdes with its major bus terminal, and Line 5 crosses the borough. On 12 December the whole Villa area closes to traffic and the metro runs at capacity: plan around it or join it deliberately.
