Markets & bazaars
Calle 7 s/n, Col. San Pedro de los Pinos. 03800
What it is. The public market of San Pedro de los Pinos, recognisable by the colourful mural across its facade. Its reputation rests on seafood: you can buy fish raw to cook at home, but the real point is to eat at the counters at the back.
What to eat. The coastal classics as Mexico City serves them: ceviche tostadas, shrimp cocktails, fillets in garlic, and —depending on the stall— less expected options like Argentine cuts, sushi or tapas. The rest of the market does the neighbourhood's everyday shopping: fruit and vegetables, a butcher, a tortillería, flowers.
Practical notes. Open daily 07:00–18:00; for seafood come between 12:00 and 15:00, when everything is fresh and the counters are working. Bring cash. San Pedro de los Pinos station, on metro Lines 7 and 9, is a few minutes' walk, and the Mixcoac archaeological zone is in the same neighbourhood.
