What is there. What sets this park apart is its clay track of about 700 metres, which made it a reference point for runners from Del Valle and the neighbouring colonias, southern Narvarte and Letrán Valle. Inside it operates La Cabaña, an arts and culture centre aimed mainly at older residents, with workshops and activities. The park opened in 1986, and the 2008 overhaul replaced the lighting, rebuilt the pavements and added ramps —which is what makes it comfortable today for pushchairs and wheelchairs.
How it is used. It is a linear park in daily use: runners at dawn and dusk, open-air classes, dog walking and families in the afternoon. It is not a tourist destination but a good place to stretch your legs if you are staying in the south of the city.
Getting there. It runs along Matías Romero, in Del Valle, Benito Juárez. Zapata and División del Norte metro stations are each a few minutes' walk, one at either end of the park, so public transport is straightforward. There is free public wifi in the park.
