Fernández Leal s/n, Col. La Concepción. 04020, Coyoacán
What it is. Most people in Mexico City associate Frida Kahlo with Coyoacán, and this park is no exception: a small square of green in the La Concepción quarter dedicated to the painter, with a bronze sculpture of her in a tehuana dress as its centrepiece.
What makes it worth five minutes. The topiary. The shrubs are clipped into deer, ducks, eagles and other creatures, and children play among them —it is the kind of neighbourhood detail that no itinerary mentions and that people remember better than the big sights. It is a square, not an attraction: a bench, some shade and a sculpture.
Practical notes. Open daily 09:00–18:00, free. Fernández Leal in Colonia La Concepción, a few minutes' walk from the centre of Coyoacán. The Casa Azul, the house she actually lived in, is about ten minutes away on foot and needs a timed ticket bought days in advance —this park does not, which is why it works as the stop before or after.
