What they serve. Dishes straight from Oaxaca: tlayudas —the large crisp tortilla loaded with beans, cheese and meat— dishes built on chapulines (grasshoppers), stuffed chillies, and the range of moles that makes Oaxacan cooking worth the trip. If you are not travelling to Oaxaca, this is a reasonable way to meet the cuisine.
How to approach it. Order a tlayuda to share and one mole to taste; the chapulines are the dish visitors hesitate over and usually end up liking, served toasted with lime and chilli. Quesillo —Oaxacan string cheese— appears in most of the menu.
Where it is. Near Paseo de la Reforma, which makes it convenient if you are staying around the Zona Rosa or Juárez. Insurgentes and Cuauhtémoc stations on metro Line 1 and the Metrobús along Reforma all serve the area.
