División del Norte s/n, Col. La Loma. 13529
In 1531, Friar Martin de Valencia, called "the father of the olive tree in America", planted the first olive trees on this site, hoping to turn the new territory into a replica of the landscape of Spain. The olive appears to be from the Middle East from where it was taken to Greece, then Spain and finally to Mexico.
The Parque de los Olivos is an excellent place to visit with family and enjoy these centenary trees that have survived the passage of time. The park covers an area of four hectares and includes football fields, playgrounds and green areas. It is located between the towns of Ixtayopan and Tulyehualco, southeast of the city.
