What it is. The San Ángel branch of the Escaparate canta bar: karaoke with a bar, on Avenida Revolución, in the south of the city. Same concept as the Anzures venue — singing as a group — in a different part of town.
Why it makes sense here. San Ángel is a daytime neighbourhood: cobbled streets, squares, the Bazar Sábado, the museums. It has little nightlife compared with the Roma or the Condesa, so a place open until 03:00 solves the evening for anyone staying in the area after walking it.
How it works. This is open-room karaoke: you sing in front of everyone, not in private booths. The repertoire runs to ballads, banda and Spanish-language rock. There is usually a minimum spend, and booking is advisable at weekends.
Practicalities. Wednesday to Saturday from 20:00 to 03:00; closed Sunday to Tuesday. Avenida Revolución #1511. San Ángel has no Metro: Barranca del Muerto, line 7, or the Insurgentes Metrobús plus a short taxi ride; for the trip back at dawn, use an app taxi.
