Digital culture in Mexico City

order by:

What this section covers. Digital culture: media art, virtual tours, online exhibitions and the programming that museums and cultural centres publish for people who cannot be in the room.

What exists online. Most major Mexico City museums now maintain virtual visits and digitised collections — the Museo Nacional de Antropología, the Antiguo Colegio de San Ildefonso, MUNAL and the Palacio de Bellas Artes among them. The INAH digital platform holds archaeological sites and collections from across the country, and the UNAM streams concerts and lectures.

And in the city itself. The MUTEK festival of electronic music and digital art, the Centro de Cultura Digital under the Estela de Luz on Reforma — free entry, exhibitions and workshops — and the media-art programming at the MUAC and the Laboratorio Arte Alameda.

Practical notes. Most online material is in Spanish, with some bilingual platforms. The Centro de Cultura Digital closes on Mondays and publishes its programme a few weeks ahead.
